Wiimote madness
Like many geeks across the world I was psyched about Johnny Chung Lee's work in using the Wiimote to do various things that it was absolutely not intended to do. In fact, a whole community of Wiimote hackers has sprung up trying to find new and interesting things to use this versatile game controler for. Well, I learned today from CoolCatTeacher that a new mac-friendly version of Johnny Chung Lee's source code has been released by a guy called Uwe Schmidt.
This was what I needed to hear to delve into yet another project. Basically I just want to see if it works. So far, I've managed to get the wiimote talking to the MacBook, and I have picked up the signal of a remote control. Tomorrow, I hope to cobble together some sort of IR pen using a scavanged IR diode from a remote.
Anyone who wants to try this out, youtube is the place for instructional materials. I'll update with a post on how it is going.

I will be watching to see. I’m all over this project this summer. This is great! I bet the whiteboard companies are “flipping out.”
